Nueva web de MuyMuy
Quaderns d’arquitectura i urbanisme is the journal of the Association of Architects of Catalonia (COAC). The magazine has been published since 1944, under numerous directions with markedly different editorial phases and agendas.
Issue # 261 was the first edited by the current editorial team after winning an open competition in February 2011. The new Quaderns addresses possibilities for architecture after the boom and ensuing recession by juxtaposing projects, working philosophies, and lines of thought; exploring the margins of current professional contexts and traditional spheres of architectural practice and reflection.
Under the new editorial structure, each issue of Quaderns is driven by a three-fold mechanism of theme, case study and a temporal reference to a past issue from the magazine’s impressive archive. The relationships between these three poles draw a thread between permanent sections of the magazine: a cover Visual Essay, the Archive—where a fragment is “torn out” from an old issue of Quaderns and repurposed or reexamined—, the Observatory—which samples recent work of local architects—, essays and case studies, and a “guest” contribution that introduces the theme of the following issue, creating a circular, overlapping narrative.
Content also expands from print to screen through as system of codes linking to the Quaderns website.
